New York is one of my favourite cities in the world. It's a place i've dreamed of seeing since I was little. I dreamed of hailing yellow taxi cabs, ice skating and rowing in Central Park, eating dollar slice pizzas the size of my head and most of all getting to stand at the top of the Empire State building and stare in awe at the twinkly lights of the city below me.
My first trip to New York was in January 2013 with one of my close friends, Steph. As many people know, New York experiences 'real seasons', meaning the summers are sweltering and the winter turn the city into a freezing snow globe. After visiting wrapped up in my big coat and matching hat, scarf and gloves last time, I was excited to see the city gleaming in the sunshine.
We visited in September, which was the perfect month to visit in my eyes. The sunshine was still beating down on the skyscrapers, but it was just that little bit cooler, where you could walk around without feeling like you were about to melt into a puddle any moment.
One of my favourite places in New York is Central Park. I think if I was ever lucky enough to live here, then i'd visit the park every weekend, come rain or shine. There's something so special about a vast green area you can escape to, when the hustle and bustle of the streets and towering buildings, become a little too much.
A picnic was a must when we visited the park one afternoon, bags full of treats from Whole Foods clutched in our hands, we laid down on the grass, nibbling as we watched the world go by.
Somewhere I didn't visit last time, but definitely wanted to see this trip, was Brooklyn and more specifically the famous Brooklyn Bridge. With it being so iconic, I was worried i'd hyped it up too much and it was going to be a bit of a disappointment, but I was very wrong, as you can tell by my big grin here!
Another great place we visited was The High Line. If you don't know what the high line is, it's essentially a park built on a railway track above the streets of Manhattans west side.
This 1.45 mile long walk, includes fantastic views of the Hudson River and surrounding city.
There's something about New York, which makes me fall head over heels in love with it, each time I visit. I love the energetic buzz I feel from the place and how there's always something new waiting to be discovered, round each corner. If you ever get the opportunity to visit this city, don't pass it up.
New York, I will make sure this isn't the last time we meet.
Love,
Carly x
